Shelley Nowak - Chief Executive Officer
We are pleased to announce Shelley Nowak as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Lakeside Behavioral Health System in Memphis, Tennessee. Shelley began her career in behavioral health at Parkwood Hospital in 1991 working in admissions and marketing for nearly eight years. Her first position at Lakeside was in the role of Business Development where she managed the marketing department for both Lakeside and Parkwood for nearly two years. In 1999 she left Lakeside to accept a corporate position with The Brown Schools based in Austin, Texas and was promoted to Vice President of Business Development for the company. In 2002 she returned to Lakeside as Chief Operating Officer. While COO, Shelley led efforts in new program development including the opening of Recovery Academy, an adolescent residential addiction program, and The Lakeside Triage Center at The Med. Prior to returning to Lakeside in May 2007, Shelley was the Chief Executive Officer at Compass Intervention Center in Memphis. Shelley is a board member of JustCare for Kids and the Mental Health Summit, a graduate of Desoto Leadership and a member of the Desoto Arts Council. She is a lifelong native of the mid-south and lives in Hernando, Mississippi with her husband, Tony.

 

Felicia Swauncy - Chief Financial Officer
Felicia Swauncy joined Lakeside Behavioral Health System as Chief Financial Officer in February 2007. She has served in a variety of roles in Finance for 20 years. She was previously the CFO at Health South in Memphis for two years, Director of Finance at Memphis Area Transit Authority for almost nine years and Controller at Elder Care for five years. She is a graduate of Christian Brothers University and Central Michigan University. She is a graduate and member of Leadership Memphis. She resides with her husband and three children in Memphis.

 

 

 


 

Steve Shell - Chief Operating Officer
Steve Shell has joined Lakeside Behavioral Health System as Chief Operating Officer. Steve has worked in a variety of marketing and business development roles in the healthcare industry since 1991. He began his behavioral health career at Lakeside in 1998 as a member of the business development team and helped develop Lakeside’s current program for geriatric patients. Steve joined The Brown Schools in 2000 as Regional Director of Business Development for three behavioral health facilities in Texas. He relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 2003 to join Horizon Health as Regional Director of Marketing for 24 behavioral health facilities in multiple states.  Steve began his career in hospital operations in 2005 when he was appointed Administrator of Meadhaven Behavioral Health in Montgomery, Alabama. Prior to returning to Lakeside in June, he was the Chief Executive Officer at Atlantic Shores Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Steve graduated from the University of Alabama in 1990 and he now lives in Bartlett, Tennessee.

 

 

Anna 'Joy' Golden, RN - Chief Nursing Officer
Anna ‘Joy’ Golden, RN has joined Lakeside as Chief Nursing Officer. Joy has been working in the healthcare industry since 1978 where she started her career at Methodist Healthcare as Corporate Human Resources Director. During her 22 years with Methodist, Joy managed labor and employee relations, risk management, benefit administration, the employee health clinic and functioned as the legal consultant for all FAA guidelines for employee health for the Hospital Air Wing Ambulance Service. She graduated from nursing school in 1996 and is currently a Registered Nurse in Tennessee. Joy has been working as a psychiatric nurse at Lakeside since 1997 during which time she has held the positions of Charge Nurse and House Supervisor. Joy taught Labor Relations and Employment Law at the University of Tennessee College of Allied Health from 1992 to 1999. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tusculum College in 1986. Prior to Lakeside, Joy was the Senior Human Resources Director of Golden Innovations, formerly Beverly Enterprises, Inc. She lives in Arlington, Tennessee with her husband, children and grandchildren.


 
Doug Ginn, LCSW - Chief Clinical Officer
Doug Ginn, LCSW has joined Lakeside Behavioral Health System as Chief Clinical Officer. Doug began his career in behavioral health in 1988 as a community counselor at Lakeside. He worked at Lakeside for over 10 years in various clinical positions including Administrator of Child and Adolescent Services. Doug has vast experience in program development including Partial Hospitalization, In-Home Crisis Intervention, Intensive Outpatient and Respite Care programs. As Chief Clinical Officer, Doug will oversee all of the many clinical programs at Lakeside in both adult and adolescent services. Prior to returning to Lakeside, Doug was in private practice and opened The Exeter Psychotherapy Group in Germantown, TN. Doug graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1987 and the University of Tennessee with a Master’s of Science in Social Work in 1994. He is licensed in Tennessee as a Clinical Social Worker. Doug and his family live in Somerville, Tennessee.
